Ladurée « Instants Gourmands »

Author : Pascal Bonafoux
Photographs by : Joël Laiter
Published by : Flammarion

The book

Founded in 1862 in the rue Royale by Louis Ernest Ladurée, the company quickly became famous especially for its macaroons. Its tearoom was at the time one of the first meeting places for "Ladies". Ladurée had invented the Parisian "Salon de thé".

Pascal Bonafoux’s text is written like a storybook, linking famous people (Colette, Rossini, Giraudoux, …) to an equally famous Ladurée cake (Macaroon, millefeuille, mocha cake…).

Joël Laitier’s photographs recreate the look and feel of the place and the warmth of its customers and staff.

Philippe Andrieu, Chief Pastry cook at Ladurée, has contributed twenty or so recipes with "hints" to help the reader make a success of them, including, for the first time, his recipe for macaroons which take 24 hours to make.
